How it works
Each birth date is converted to its Chinese calendar equivalent, revealing the heavenly stem (天干) and earthly branch (地支) of the year, which carry specific elemental qualities. The day's element is also calculated. The two individuals' elemental profiles are then compared using the Five Elements generating cycle (Wood feeds Fire, Fire creates Earth, Earth produces Metal, Metal carries Water, Water nourishes Wood) and controlling cycle (Wood controls Earth, Earth controls Water, Water controls Fire, Fire controls Metal, Metal controls Wood).
